[Poppy Kitchen] Vanilla Cinnamon French Toast

A non baby-related post for a change! This time we’re going back to the kitchen 🙂

Saw my bottle of maple syrup in the kitchen cupboard last week and decided to make French Toast for a quick, simple breakfast.

My mum used to make them at home too. Just a few eggs, some sugar and a whole loaf of bread (my mum has this habit of cooking for a village of people when, really, there’s just 3 of us at home).

But if you are particular like me, here’s a recipe you can follow.

I used thick-sliced white bread for the French Toast and each slice soaked up A LOT of the egg mixture. That makes the bread rather soggy and not as easy to flip when frying in the pan.

But compared to bread slices of normal thickness, the thick-sliced bread was less dry and had more texture to it. The edges and surface of the bread were crispy, nicely toasted and caramelised, while the layer inside remains a little chewy with the semi-cooked egg mixture.

And finally, drizzled with my favourite maple syrup 😀

Honestly, it’s impossibly quick and simple to make 🙂

Happy weekend!
