[Review] BlanX Non-Abrasive Whitening Toothpaste

As part of my quest to better oral hygiene and a more beautiful smile, I have been looking at ways to make my teeth a tad brighter. So when BlanX contacted me to try out their range of non-abrasive whitening toothpaste, I quickly jumped at the opportunity to do so.

I don’t smoke but I do take coffee and tea a few times each week and my teeth have always had a yellowish tinge to it. You have no idea how much I envy those with beautiful white teeth (whether natural or not)! I still couldn’t bear to fork out a substantial amount of money for teeth whitening procedure at the dentist, so I’ve been exploring more affordable whitening options.

I’ve tried home whitening kits which use peroxide for the whitening effect and many of them caused sensitivity to my teeth. I have also been rather lazy in keeping up with the treatments at home because they usually take about 20-30 minutes to carry out. I have also tried a whole bunch of whitening toothpaste on the market but most of them do not show any visible whitening results.

While BlanX is only made available locally about a month ago, it has been Italy’s Number 1 toothpaste. When I received the products, I was extremely intrigued by the packaging and its star product, the White Shock.

The BlanX Classic Range of whitening toothpaste come in several variations to target different whitening needs and are contained in bottles instead of squeeze tubes. You need to press a lever-like contraption on top to get the toothpaste out. It’s pretty cool and I love that it is able to stand neatly on the counter-top, taking up less space than traditional tubes of toothpaste which you need to leave lying down.

It gives a refreshing, minty taste and I do find my teeth a little less yellowish after every use. I’ve been using the Intense Stain Removal toothpaste and I did not feel even a slight tinge on sensitivity to my teeth.

The BlanX whitening toothpaste retails at $11.95 each.

The White Shock toothpaste comes in a tube and looked like any other toothpaste until you replace the cap with the super cool LED Light Accelerator. The LED light emitted from the Light Accelerator is used to activate Actilux®, the active ingredient that uses the power of light to whiten teeth. What is really cool about having Actilux® in the toothpaste is that Actilux® binds to the enamel of our teeth during regular brushing, creating an invisible barrier that blocks the causes of yellowing. Its photocatalytic active ingredient lasts all day and is activated by light to destroy dirt molecules and naturally whiten our teeth. This means whenever we smile (or whenever we expose our teeth to light), the whitening effect will be activated so the more we smile, the more intense the whitening action!

The LED Light Accelerator comes with the BlanX White Shock (50ml). It has a 3-month battery life and can be reused on your next tube of BlanX White Shock toothpaste. You are also recommended to shine the LED light from the Light Accelerator on to your teeth for a minute after brushing with the White Shock toothpaste.

I love the minty taste of the toothpaste which always leaves my mouth feeling clean and refreshed. Similar to their whitening range, the White Shock doesn’t cause any sensitivity to my teeth and my teeth seems brighter after each use.

The BlanX White Shock (50ml) + LED Light Accelerator retails at $12.90 each and the BlanX White Shock (75ml) retails at $8.90 each.

I have been using the BlanX White Shock in the morning since I will be exposing my teeth to light more often during daytime to activate the Actilux® ingredient and the BlanX Intensive Stain Removal at night to help remove stains that have accumulated during the day. This is the best before and after shot I could capture because the lighting always seems to be different.

But after using the products for around 2 weeks, I do find that my teeth are brighter and not so yellowish. But do not expect extreme whitening effects like those that you get from whitening procedures at your dentist. I also find that you have to be consistent in using the products for the effects to be sustainable.

BlanX products are now available at selected Watsons stores and Cold Storage. You can find out more about BlanX via their Facebook Page and Instagram Account.
