Father’s Day Staycation at W Sentosa
It took me quite a while to plan for Wayne’s first Father’s Day celebration. I wanted to arrange for some activities which Wayne and Laurent could both enjoy but there are not too many exciting choices for a 11 month-old and a 30 year-old to enjoy together!
After much contemplation and partly due to a last minute change in schedule for my family’s celebration, I decided to check us in for a surprise staycation!
I quickly decided on W Singapore Sentosa Cove because we love the super chill vibes at Sentosa Cove, and I’m partly treating it as an alternative to our W Bali stay which we have been planning and planning but didn’t materialize.
It’s pretty tough to plan for surprises when we stay together, but I managed to steal some private moments to make his Father’s Day card and secretly pack our luggage 😀
Wayne had to go to the office on Sat morning so when he was back, I told him to get ready as we are going out for an early father’s day dinner.
When he came out of the shower, he was greeted with a packed luggage by the door and gave me a funny “are-you-serious” look (it’s almost that same funny awkward smile he gave when I told him I was pregnant with Laurent). “Nope, we are NOT bringing our passports,” I added, before he gets his hopes too high.
And happy island here we come!!
The check-in process took a while because there were quite a number of people checking-in. But the manager on duty was nice and went around to see how everyone’s doing and apologised for the delay.
Laurent had been sleeping the whole time but became wide awake when we reached our room. And the moment we placed him down on the king-sized bed, his eyes lit up and he started to roll around the bed in excitement!
They noted that we have a baby in the room and brought us a crib and a set of baby toiletries.
I took the Fabulous Room because it had a balcony, but I wished we had requested for a higher room which would probably have a better view of the cove.
But the balcony did come in handy as we could feed Laurent out in the fresh air while enjoying the breeze 🙂
We took a walk around the hotel to check out their facilities and true to their brand, they have some pretty fancy design elements and the whole space is very clean and well-kept.
We took a leisurely walk in the evening sun to our dinner venue and settled at Sabio by the Sea.
We had an alfresco seating so Laurent kept himself happily occupied by checking out the surrounding, the passer-bys, other diners, the waiting staff and the little furry animals accompanying their owners.
We enjoyed the meal, but I personally preferred the tapas served at Cataluyna. The seafood paella and churros we fantastic, though!
We were contemplating on taking the shuttle bus around Sentosa, but decided to go back and enjoy our room a little more 😀 Especially when the little one seemed like he couldn’t get enough of it!
All of us had such a great rest that night, even Laurent who was kinda cranky for the past couple of nights due to teething (AGAIN) slept really soundly and refused to get up. It must be something about the bed. Or the pillow. Or the bed sheet. I think I should ask W about it 😀
We went for our breakfast buffet at The Kitchen Table. There isn’t a tremendous variety of food, but they were of pretty good quality. And they have honey combs at the pancake section! Haven’t seen honey combs at breakfast buffets since our UK trip 🙂
We rested a little before heading to the pool.
It was Laurent’s first time in a public pool and he totally enjoyed himself! Wish we brought a float for him so he could splash around more freely.
Oh, and there was this little girl who couldn’t stop following him around ><
After some good splashing fun, we went back to our room to wash up and rested a little before checking out at 2pm.
That concluded our Father’s Day celebration, our first staycation as a family and Laurent’s first time in the pool 🙂 I am extremely thankful to see how much the 2 boys enjoyed themselves and that we have this lovely memory to keep.
Thanks again for being our Superhero!! <3 and thank God for blessing us with a beautiful weekend 😀
