Maternity Shoot with Josh Khoo Photography

We didn’t do a professional maternity shoot when I was pregnant with L and simply did a DIY one at home. I initially didn’t have the intention to do one for this pregnancy as well until Joshua from Josh Khoo Photography asked if we might be keen.

We first met Joshua for a shoot that Laurent did for Boys by Mark and L was very comfortable with him. So when he asked if we’re keen on a family/ maternity shoot, we agreed and started planning right away for a shoot to happen on my 33rd week of pregnancy.

When deciding the theme and location for the shoot, I wanted to go for something more natural. Coney Island turned out to be the perfect shoot location because I loved how rustic and magical it looks – almost like we’re in a magic forest and not in Singapore! It’s an added bonus that it’s Super near our house (although we’ve never ventured there before). Joshua was excited about the idea and so were we!

I approached Le Fairy Meadow to help me custom a floral crown for the shoot and Zynnia made such a beautiful one even though my request was really last minute!

The weather had been wet and dreary the whole 2 weeks leading to our shoot and the weather forecast for the day was thunderstorm when we checked the night before. We didn’t really have a wet weather plan because I was really really hoping to shoot at Coney Island, so all of us just prayed really hard for a good weather!

That morning, we were greeted by a cool weather and beautiful clear skies! I honestly can’t be thankful enough for that šŸ™‚

I had my make-up and hair done by Jenny from Autelier Make Up and had an enjoyable time talking about pregnancy and kids! Thanks for making me feel like a bride again, Jenny! Heehee šŸ™‚

We parked our car at Punggol Settlement and walked along the pavement for 500m to reach the West Entrance of Coney Island. I wished we brought our pram along to put all our stuff (snacks, drinks, props, lotssss of mosquito repellant, extra clothes, etc) because the walk was quite a distance ( for L and a heavily pregnant me).

But once we stepped foot into Coney Island, it felt like we’ve entered a completely different world and I was utterly mesmerised by it!

The weather was just perfect for us to enjoy the greenery and serenity of the place. We were there on a weekday morning so there were very few people there, making it quite a private session.

Here are some of my favourite shots from the shoot!

Hugeeee thank you again to Joshua for the beautiful pictures, this shoot honestly won’t have happened without you!
