[Media Invite] Let’s Get Groovy at City Square Mall
Last weekend, we were invited to check out the exciting, retro-themed activities that City Square Mall had lined up for the June holidays.
As we were turning into the carpark, it suddenly struck me that we have not been to the mall since I’ve given birth! We used to frequent City Square Mall for dinners, movies and Daiso trips as it was near our previous office. I can’t believe that it has been almost a year!
When we arrived at City Square Mall, it was already packed with families and excited kids waiting to catch Barney’s Jukebox Party ‘Live’ On Stage!
Laurent was sleeping on our way to the mall so he was still a little groggy when we were waiting for the show to start.
Laurent isn’t acquainted with Barney because he has never seen him on TV before, but I have!
It may sound odd to have such reflective moments at a rowdy live show but for a moment it felt so surreal that I was standing there, watching a familiar childhood character bouncing around live on stage, with my own kid!
The crowd went wild when BJ and Baby Bop joined Barney on stage and all the kids were enjoying themselves singing and dancing to the familiar tunes that the dino crew was belting out.
Laurent became much more awake when the show started and gave Barney and friends his undivided attention.
We proceeded to join the queue for the Meet & Greet session with the characters and got a lovely group photo with them for keepsake (find out how to get the Meet & Greet passes below)!
Laurent was extremely intrigued by BJ and couldn’t stop looking at him and touching his face!
In line with the retro theme of the mall’s June Holiday activities, the City Green park has transformed into a venue for fun and laughter with the “Good Ole Fun In The Park” retro carnival from 29 May to 28 June.
Kids and parents alike can indulge themselves in old school carnival games and rides such as the Pirate Ship, Carousel, Bumper Car, Tea Cup and more!
We had a ticket for the carnival and decided to hop on the carousel with Mama Ashlyn and Emma darling!
Yes, Laurent has this odd fascination with cheeks. He was trying to touch BJ’s cheeks at Meet & Greet session and when he was on the carousel with Emma, I was busy trying to stop him from touching Emma’s cheeks the entire ride!
But Emma, you have such cute cheeks, Laurent couldn’t help it! 😀
To end off the fun-filled afternoon, we took a leisurely ride on the colorful train to go around the park 🙂
I think Laurent really enjoyed himself that day as he was blabbering non-stop after the event as if he was trying to recount the fun activities 😀 Some games and rides at the carnival are suitable for older kids as well so I believe there will be something fun for everyone in the family!
I can’t believe we’ve missed this mall for almost a year. With so many kids-friendly shops, dining options and the exciting activities for the month of June, we will defintely be dropping by more often!
