A Weekend of Precious Moments

Wayne is away this weekend with his pals at BKK, enjoying a wet wet Songkran.

In contrast to his happening weekend, I’ve purposefully planned a quiet weekend 🙂

While I know I’m gonna miss Wayne quite a bit, I was actually looking forward to spending the weekend ‘collecting moments’.

Was on half day leave with Wayne on Friday afternoon to settle some home and insurance matters. We had some time to spare before he had to leave for the airport so he spent about half an hour talking to Baby L.

After dropping Wayne off at the airport, I came home to a sudden downpour. So I made hot tea and listened to the rain while finishing up some last minute work. It’s really quite nice to telecommute at home once in a while 🙂

Spent the rest of the evening snacking on cheese and crackers, watching TV and finally falling asleep while reading.

Saturday morning was spent with colleagues at a macaron-making workshop 🙂

Picked up quite a few useful tips and I’m so tempted to make Macs again! But decided I’ll do it when Wayne’s around so I have someone to clean up after me 😛

Had lunch with Jess Jess after the lesson before we parted ways.

I had the intention to wander around Esplanade but ended up at the exit to Raffles Hotel, so I decided to pop by for a quick tour, armed with my camera 🙂

I would have loved to spend some time at the Garden Terrace of Bar & Billiard Room but too bad, they serve martinis, not coffee and tea 🙁

After the brief detour, I headed over to the Esplanade.

I had wanted to go there because I thought it will be interesting to re-visit our favourite dating hang-out with Baby L and share some memories of daddy-mummy’s love story with him 🙂

Besides our endless late-night chats at the bay and roof garden, the Esplanade was also the place where Wayne professed his love 🙂

Oh and you can tell, eating has been our favourite past time since the very beginning :S

After the walk down memory lane (quite literally), I settled down at the cafe lounge outside Aquamarine with a nice cup of strawberry tea and immersed myself in Pamela Druckerman’s lively account of French parenting.

I absolutely love whiling time away at hotel lounges. Much more than at cafes, I came to realise. Because hotel lounges are bigger, hence you seem to get more privacy because people are just hanging around at random corners and not sitting right next to you. And you feel less pressure to finish-and-go since there is so much space around.

They are also great placed to people-watch and ‘listen-in’ to juicy gossips 😛 I really wasn’t eavesdropping, people tend to get really excited when they gossip so it was pretty easy to have ‘overheard’ them 🙂

Met my favourite girlfriend for dinner after spending a good 4 hours at the lounge and brought her home for the usual staycation when Wayne is not around 😀

Spent the night chatting away, reminiscing old times, talking to Baby L and watching him move about 🙂

Such rare, simple and precious moments which I share with my mum, that I’ll hold dearly as I’m about to become a mother myself.

Woke up bright and early in the morning to get ready for town! We used to go out almost every Sunday when I was younger (and less caught up with studies, activities and work). We used to reach orchard around 11 am and walk all the way to Douby Gauht, eating and shopping along the way, before we return home around 10pm. It was the typical mother-daughter bonding sessions for us 😀

It has been a really enjoyable weekend for me… Time spent doing little things I like, relishing quiet moments and reliving my favourite past-time with mum 🙂

I guess chances like this will not come by so easily with Baby L’s arrival, so while I’m looking forward to seeing Wayne again, I’m extremely thankful for this precious weekend.

Whenever I get worn out by commitments in the future, I know I’ll get to come back to this post and relish the moments I’ve collected over this lovely, quiet weekend 🙂
